Garage progressing
Some quick updates on progress..
We've been working on lots of different small details in the house but now made a good start on the garage. The walls are fully reinforced ICF walls - vertical and horizontal rebar. Originally the engineer specified mesh, but this would have been almost impossible to build with - because we're using ICF and there are ties between the courses. Not only would it have been hard to balance the mesh vetically, but we wouldn't place the ICF ladders. Fortunately POlarwall presented their normal approach which the engineer was happy with.
So we started fitting 144 vertical 3m lengths of rebar and all the horizontal pieces up to 5 courses. We are awaiting the final delivery of insulation boards - which will be a different colour! - and then complete built up to full wall height.
Scaffolding has been erected for the final top courses and in readiness for the concrete pour.
With a decent weekend of dry weather, we should finish the blocks in a couple of weeks.
