Summer update - skylights, kitchen, electrics and garage
It's been a while since I posted last however we have been working continuously on a whole range of aspects.
Skylight - after liking the first one so much, we ordered a second Skylight to go into the entrance lobby. Although we got this delivered a few weeks ago, both weather an other commitments meant we only got it on on Saturday. Fair to say we're really chuffed with it.
Electrics - Most of the second fix is now complete with a the final works planned for late August. Works slowed rather thanks to MK Electrics, whose customer service has been fairly appalling. We opted for their Elements range of switches and sockets which, we are told, are custom made for each order. Of course there is a price premium for that and one might have thought they would ensure the right gear turned up in a timely manner - not so with MK. The switchgear has been supplied in dribs and drabs, and even still, we do not have all the correct equipment. Our eletrician has been great to work with and accomodated quite a few changes as he progressed - he was as keen to make sure everything was 'just right' as we were.
Kitchen - kitchen is pretty much completed now with the quartz worktops being fitted by a specialist. We bought the kitchen from Wren Kitchens and fitted ourselves. Wren have been brilliant from start to finish, a slick and smooth process from start to finish.
Garage
We have now started building the external walls to the garage. These are being built using Polarwall ICF which is so easy to work with.
