Milestone! Roof finished!

23 hours over two days and we have finally completed the roof! We still have the edge detail to complete, but that can be done in stages.

We needed a weekend of calm, dry weather - April is always pretty good in Scotland and we saw our window of opportunity. Insulation was called up from Jewson and rubber sent up from England.

The process was the same as upstairs - but we are getting better and quicker at it. What slows us down the most is that there are just two of us. Everything that arrives all has to be lifted by hand up the hill to the house, and then up onto the roof.

This weekend alone we had 500kg of rubber and 60sheets of 150mm Kingspan.

Anyway, to cut a long story short - it's done and we're really pleased with the result. Only one small patch we are not happy with, but that was the result of a gust of wind as we were rolling the rubber - and it will barely be visible anyway.
