29 December 2015

18 days later and closing out 2015.

So, after feeling rather gloomy that the Scottish weather and the 2015 el nino had scuppered our winter plans....we've worked 15 out of 18 days...and made some pretty good progress.

Key tasks in order:

  • Drill holes in lower part of steel beams (120 holes) and upper part of two (40).
  • Bolt on wall plates for the roof beams and sole plates and top rails for the timber infill panels.
  • Build 6 timber infill panels
  • Install 10 5.4m posijoists
  • Install 6 4.4m posijoists
  • Install 17 5.7m posi roof joists
  • Lay OSB roof deck, screwing to each joist at 250mm centres
  • Primer OSB ready for self adhesive Alutrix 600 vapour layer
  • Install gable ladders
  • Fit OSB sheathing to wall panels
  • Install TF200 breather membrane to protect timber
  • Cut and fit timber battens to exterior
We have completed most of these, with only the sheathing on 3 sides left to complete.

The pics can do the talking!

Roof beams in position.
Floor beams in and walls taking shape

Frame bolted to steel frame at 450mm centres.
Most of the OSB laid and screwed down and Craig starting the primer.

Appling RG35 primer prior to laying the VCL

Alutrix 600 VCL adhered to the roof deck. This will keep the roof dry until we get the insulation boards and the EPDM on top - we need two dry and calm days for this.
